Weekly Home Favourite: Pieminister

The weather is getting colder in the UK and at Weekly Home we are looking for ways to stay warm. One of our favourite ways of keeping warm is enjoying a good filling hot meal. The traditional British pie is a good option for this and we know just the place to go in Oxford to get a great pie, Pieminister in the Covered Market.

We are making Pieminister a Weekly Home favourite because their pies have delicious and interesting fillings and the pastry is thick and crisp. In the office our favourite fillings are the classic Kate and Sidney Pie (tender british beef steak, kidneys & real ale) and for vegetarians the Heidi Pie (Somerset goats’ cheese, sweet potato, spinach & red onion). We like to have our Pieminister pies served with mashed potato and gravy and enjoy them piping hot.

Not only is the food great but so are the surroundings. Pieminister sits in the centre of Oxford’s Covered Market. The Covered Market houses 50 independent shops including cafés, green grocers, fish mongers, butchers, clothes shops and much more. The market has been in Oxford for over 200 years and is steeped in history.

If all that isn’t enough Pieminister is also great value for money and you can enjoy a lunch of pie, mash and gravy for less than £5, making it one of Oxford’s most affordable lunch options. .
