Royal Leamington Spa is an elegant and historic town, set in the heart of the beautiful Warwickshire countryside. Originally a spa town popular for the medicinal properties of its spa water, Leamington Spa was favoured by Queen Victoria and awarded the prefix 'Royal' in 1838. The town is famous for its Georgian and early Victorian architecture and has many listed buildings, including the Royal Pump Rooms. It also has beautifully maintained parks and lovely river walks along the River Leam which flows through the centre of the town. It is a thriving town, one of the three largest in Warwickshire, with excellent shopping, dining and cultural facilities. It is only 3kms from the university town of Warwick and Warwick Castle, one of Britain's most visitied castles. Only 11kms away is the town of Stratford-Upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, Britain's most famous playwright, which is beautifully preserved and contains numerous 'Shakespeare properties' which date back to Tudor times. Leamington Spa benefits from very good road and rail transport links so that it is easy to access in all directions.
